The Webster Detention Center was a $34 million construction/renovation project in Augusta, Ga. The project included construction of approximately 101,226 SF of space to include a new male housing building and a female housing building; office spaces, kitchen expansion, inmate processing center expansion, and a new 40,000 sq. ft. medical housing clinic. A new video visitation building was also constructed to make the facility a new age security resource.
The project consisted of general administrative offices, 3 new control centers, remodel of the 3 existing control centers, Network data center, operational work space, server rooms, conference rooms, storage areas, latrine and shower facilities, communications closets, electrical and mechanical rooms, utilities, electrical/Uninterrupted Power Service (UPS). Supporting facilities included dual electrical service, domestic and fire protection water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, sidewalks, vehicular parking, loading dock, emergency generator with fuel tanks, and all required site improvements including double wall fencing with double tier barbed wire.
Special construction included sustainable construction features complying with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) “Silver.” Renewable materials and efficient methodologies were applied in all required situations. Renovation/expansion work was all constructed within a high security-controlled area.
