Saint Mary’s Elementary School

The Saint Mary’s Elementary School project included additions and renovations to the existing facility, while maintaining many unique historic elements of the site.  By assisting with design of the project, McKnight was able to fully understand the needs of the owner and deliver to those needs, including incorporating historic features of the surrounding downtown area.

During construction of the project, the owner expressed concern over the dense population of historic buildings in surrounding the site.  McKnight worked to maintain the appearance of the building on the exterior to accommodate the community’s feelings toward aesthetics.  Special care was also taken to preserve the significant historic portions of the existing building during demolition and renovations.

McKnight Construction delivered this project under budget allowing the owner to perform extensive site amenities, including a community park with savings.  The project was also completed on schedule which allowed the owner extra time to salvage historical items by Habitat for Humanity for charity projects.
