The Education Center at Fort Stewart is a 3 story facility that includes classrooms, laboratories, staff lounges, administrative offices and connecting corridors. Serving as the design build contractor, all of the design and construction services for the Education Center at Fort Stewart were managed by McKnight Construction.
This project included a total site development package to include approximately one mile of new roadway and a main new entrance into Fort Stewart. Also part of the site development was extensive stormdrain, sanitary sewer, water distribution and pump lift station, parking, site lighting and landscaping.
In coordination with the designer, McKnight evaluated life cycle costs, environmental-safe material, and air quality issues all related to sustainable design. McKnight put forth a great eff ort to acquire raw materials locally, recycle materials, reuse demo materials with approval, etc. McKnight worked with the designers on the Education Center design-build project to incorporate a SPIRIT friendly design.
Through the use of bar chart schedule and weekly meetings, McKnight was able to stay ahead of schedule throughout the entire project. With this additional time we were able to give the proper attention to detail at the end of the job to ensure a beautiful building and a seamless closeout and turnover process for the owner.
