The new Dorothy Hains Elementary School was built in the footprint of the existing school to include numerous technological and aesthetic improvements to service the students, faculty, and community. The 68,000 square foot facility includes instructional and technical classrooms, kitchen and cafeteria, and administration office space. McKnight was the prime contractor and self-performed the installation of the concrete foundations, walls, and slab on grade. The single story building is composed of load bearing masonry walls and brick veneer, metal stud trusses, and metal roof deck with a built up roof over the kitchen. The interior is painted block walls with colorfully patterned epoxy terrazzo in the hallways.
